The walking and shopping town aims to meet the recreational and shopping interests of both tourists and local residents especially at night. Some adjustments were made to the project after survey and discussion among local authorities, departments and agencies. The project has just been given to Khanh Hoa Provincial people’s Committee for approval. A walking town, considered as a unique tourist product, is expected to put into operation by 2010.

According to Architect Tran Van Dung (consultant unit), a walking town will be formed at a definite time. The location will include Biet Thu Street and Tran Phu Street, the section from Biet Thu Street to Tram Huong Tower. This place is suitable for a walking town as there are parks, coffee shops, souvenir shops, boutiques and 2-4 Square.

Besides, the walking town will have various recreation facilities including a complex of shops with interconnecting walkways. Many culture tourism and arts activities will take place in the town such as drawing contests, music shows, martial arts performance, calligraphy exhibition, etc. The walking town is expected to bring a comfortable atmosphere and enchanting image of Nha Trang City to visitors as well as local residents. It is expected to feature the urban society, culture and tourism of Nha Trang- Khanh Hoa.

Under the project, some milk flower trees on Biet Thu Street will be replaced by Giant crape myrtle and Cassia Fistula. Along Tran Phu Street, there will be more plants, liana and decorative lights. The walking town is expected to become the most beautiful place in Nha Trang City. Electric bicycles, motorbikes and all means of motorized transport will not be allowed in the walking town on Saturdays and Sundays from 6pm to 12pm. The walking town promises to be an unique tourist product of the coastal city of Nha Trang.
